Milwaukee Zoo

On Saturday, June 27th we went to the Milwaukee Zoo for my aunt’s birthday. On the way there, my sister’s stuffed flamingo drove the car. After the flamingo almost crashed the car (not really), we got donuts from Krispy Kreme. I got to eat two!

When we got into Milwaukee, we went to this cafe called Canary. I got a really good Chai latte. We then went into the zoo. When we walked in, the first thing that we saw was the penguins. We then walked over to the Snack Shack, and met up with my aunt and the rest of my family. Then, my (great) aunt Patty came, and her grandchildren. The two boys (I have no idea what their names are but they both start with “J” so I called them Big J and Little J) were shy, but they told me about their ice cream at the end. We then went over to the elephants. The elephant got really close, and at the end of the elephant show, we got “Icey pops,” and 100% of sales were donated to elephant conservation in Tanzania.

After the elephants, we got to feed giraffes. To feed them, we were given three big pieces of lettuce. We held them out for the giraffe and he just used his tongue to lick them out of our hands!

After the giraffes, my aunt got an elephant Mold-A-Rama because she really likes elephants and it was her birthday. My other aunt then got pooped on by a bird. Twice. Once on her shoulder and once on her hair. We then went to a restaurant they had there, called Crust & Copper. They had really good food, and it was by far the best meal that I had at a zoo. I split a Mediterranean Grilled Chicken Pasta with my mom. It was really good, it was pasta with a lemon sauce, some chicken, capers, and sun dried tomatoes. I also got some Great Lakes Chips.

After that, we walked and saw some animals. None of them stood out as far as the few that we saw, they were bears and seals. After that we went into this really cool fish and reptile exhibit. There were fish that were bigger than my three year old brother, and a really pretty turtle. He was huge and lived with a bunch of other fishies. (I called them off brand goldfish, not the cracker, but I don’t know what they were.)

Then we saw the monkeys. There were a few outside, and then a lot inside. It was pretty cool, a little repetitive at the end but cool. When we walked out of the monkey area, there were flamingos. My sister’s favorite animal is the flamingo, and she likes to scream and overreact for everything, so you can only guess how that went. It was cool though, they got really close.

After the flamingos, we walked over to penguins. I really like penguins so that was really cool. You were able to get really close, and there was a chart with all of their names. Some highlights of the names are Houdini, Anchovy, and Chubbs. After we went there, we went back to the playground and we got to play there for a while. After we were done at the playground, we went over to the trains. The train was really fun, it rode around the whole zoo. There were a bunch of animal statues along the tracks, and there were glimpses of animals too. After we went on the train, we got Dippin’ Dots. I got a flavor called Cookie Monster. It was blue “Sugar Cookie” flavored ice cream, with chunks of chocolate chip and double chocolate cookie dough in it. I give it an 8/10. It was good, I liked the flavors, but it turned my mouth blue, which I didn’t like. We then went home. After we got home, I made SWAP’s for my cookie cruise that happened the next day!
