Crochet Patterns!
Hello! Today I am will be talking about crochet patterns. A crochet pattern is basically an instruction book that crocheters use to know what stitch to place where. I have been using other peoples patterns for products until the other day, I finally wrote one of my own! It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. All I did was think about what I wanted to make, and what shapes make up it, and then I crochet those shapes, and eventually, it looks exactly like the picture I had in mind! In the last couple of weeks, I have made four crochet patterns, and have already started making inventory to sell my favorite one.
So far, I have made an ice cream cone, a latte in a mug, a clutch bag, and a wallet. I have already started making lots and lots of ice cream cones, and I will update with a photo of all of them when they are all done. During my two week road trip across Canada (see Toronto blog), I had a lot of time in the car (we don’t believe in planes unless there is an ocean between here, and where we are going) to work on crocheting! In the car, I thought, why not make my own pattern? I’ve been crocheting for long enough that it shouldn’t be too difficult. My goal was to make three different food and drink patterns, perhaps more if I thought of more. I was able to make two. I will not be making the donut until I have lots of inventory of all of my products. I made an ice cream cone for my little brother and sister, and for my dad, and then for my mom I made her a latte, because she really likes lattes.
We were at the shoe store yesterday, getting shoes for my mom because she’s going to a wedding on Saturday. At the shoe store we saw some purses. My mom mentioned needing a purse, but she didn’t really like any of the ones there. She was going to go find one at a thrift store (its a vintage themed wedding), but then I remembered that I could crochet (because I had “forgotten,” even I was crocheting throughout this whole conversation), and I said that I would make her one! I started as soon as we got home, and finished at around noon the next day (today). I was very happy! I put one of the buttons on it that my Grandma gave me (thank you Grammie, the buttons are awesome!), and made a little wallet so all of my mom’s cards stayed in one spot.
